PARAIBA
THE LEGACY OF A COLOR

In 2024, Laura Gallon was invited to participate in a very exciting project: the coffee table book titled “Paraiba – The Legacy of a Color” written by Kevin Ferreira and Katerina Perez. Her work was featured alongside brands like Mellerio, Chanel, Chopard, Fabergé and Chaumet.
The book reveals the secrets of the extremely rare and valuable gemstone Paraiba Tourmaline. It covers the history of its discovery, its appeal for collectors and high jewelry designers, and the discovery of new mines that allow the gem to continue to be collected and used for exceptional jewels.

Laura Gallon & Kevin Ferreira
Kevin Ferreira, a gemologist, is a specialist in Paraiba tourmaline through his family’s involvement in the mining of the gem in Brazil and Africa. He brings experience and expertise into this world by tracing the origins of Paraiba in Brazil and later in Mozambique and Nigeria.

Laura Gallon & Katerina Perez
Katerina Perez, arguably the most recognized jewelry influencer in the world, discusses Paraiba’s role in jewelry design as both a central gemstone and to enhance overall jewelry design. Speaking with academics, designers and heads of luxury brands, Perez shows the versatility of Paraiba in high jewelry design through her personal experiences, the words of the experts and through many visual examples.
The final part of the book is a veritable ‘who’s who’ of high jewelry artists, designers and luxury brands that have used Paraiba to create magnificent jewels, including Laura Gallon. For the occasion, she created a one-of-a-kind pair of earrings featuring Paraiba Tourmalines, Blue Sapphires and Diamonds. The design was inspired by Laura’s family signature Art Deco style and by the dragonfly, symbol of transformation and adaptability. These beautiful creatures of the wind travel through the elements of water, air and land. They are a lucky charm that signals prosperity and happiness.

The book was officially unveiled at the Ritz Hotel on Place Vendôme in Paris on June 28th, 2024.
